lyrics

First Show I ever played I was 14 years old
We had to sell tickets and battle for the chance to record
We thought we were the best
We couldn’t wait to play at The Rocket.
We’d practice every night (our parents hated it)
Blaring our punk rock songs of growing up and being best friends
We never thought that it would come to an end… I guess it did.
But I still get the feeling on the back of my neck
When I hear what little crowd came to cheer on my band
I’d get a real job but I’m too in love with it
Thinkin’ ‘bout the day of the First Show I ever played.
We were the first ones there the door was still closed
Guess some things never change regardless of where you go
I just recall seeing the many stairs- “so narrow!”
The anxious wait to play was eating me inside
All of my friends and family were there for the big night
We hit the stage…I felt my whole world come to light!
And I still get the feeling on the back of my neck
When I hear what little crowd came to cheer on my band
I’d get a real job but I’m too in love with it
Thinkin’ ‘bout the day of the First Show I ever played.
And I was out of breath by the first chorus
Didn’t matter- when I looked out Dustin was singin’ it
And I was drenched in sweat. I jumped into the pit!
Never wanted those 20 minutes to end…
After the show we heard back the tape
Realized we’d played the songs at almost twice their rate
Voices cracked, we were off time, and way off key!
Oh, but I still got the feeling on the back of my neck
When I heard what little crowd came to cheer on my band
I had a real job but I quit that shit
Back in the day of the First Show I played!
And I still get the feeling on the back of my neck
When I hear what little crowd came to cheer on my band
I’d get a real job but I’m too in love with this
Thinkin’ ‘bout the day of the First Show I ever played!
